It looks lovely, Hypno! And now you'll need to post another pic showing the calculator has been placed more tidily :D:rotfl:

Thanks for all the nice comments guys.

I woke just after 3 today, and bizarrely it was money that kept me awake. My recent spending on hair, clothes, the PC and the laptop has scared me somewhat into how easy it easy it is to spend.

I know that the PC and laptop are paid for by MSE money, so there is no real problem, but the clothes were put on the 0% card which I will clear with next month's bonus, so I have borrowed the money, when I could have waited a few weeks and bought with cash.

I am surprised at how much it played on my mind in the night, and I really do need to address it so that it does not turn into the thin end of the wedge of borrowing with the intention of paying back "next month".

In real terms, and certainly in terms of how much I have spent on hair and clothes over the last few years, it is next to nothing, but it is the act of spending and how it is funded that I need to consider.

My budget was so tight for this month, yet I spent £132 in the supermarket.....going waaay off my shopping list. Etc Etc.

So, I need to focus, regroup, and get a grip, otherwise I will be suffering from a lack of sleep again and will be seeing those debt numbers going up and not down, which is not what I have been working towards.

I've got a long day today - download work tonight, which I must do as I cancelled last week due to my neck. So I hope that the additional hours spent awake in the night don't catch up with me too much today.

And internet access is being monitored more closely from today, so may not pop on so much in the course of the day.....will catch up as and when!

Have a good one everyone xx

    Good morning Hypno,

Sorry to hear about the worries.

When things have been really tight in the past, we go back to cash spend only, and don't use the cards at all. You can leave them at home if you think that will help. That way you can only spend what you have in your purse. Might that work for you at least until thinks get a bit easier moneywise?

    Scratchies done.

Hope everyone has a good day :)

Morning, sorry to hear you were up so early worrying, but if anyone knows how to tighten up and pay off its you!

I'm on FB, so if you dont mind pming me I'd love to see what they did, I went shorter but still looking at other styles.

At least when you went clothes shopping you stuck to your capsule wardrobe list. I'm finding it hard when going food shopping as I have my list but if its not on offer or the price has shot up I look for something else and then see :EasterBun

More thoughts Hypno, you did stick to your capsule wardrobe list, and so everything was within the annual budget, so it's more a cashflow blip due to spending earlier, rather than being over budget.

Losing a stone and not shopping for so long means that you really needed the things earlier, so it wasn't frivalous unplanned spending. You also needed it as part of the 'new you' change, which is helping you cope with what's going on.

Hope you get some nice mystery shops and matched bets to help this month :)

iv been a bit spendy lately too, i think it comes with the better weather, being out and about in town and supermarkets i get a lighter feeling about being a consumer when the weather is brighter. plus my stamina for 'being good' lasts as long as i feel i can manage and then i have a weaker day and hey presto iv bought my daughters presents and two new tops for myself in a sort of blind haze. i would take them back but iv not had a new item of clothing for over two years and things to make you feel a bit better are important sometimes. we can't just drudge along without the occasional treat as an incentive for the long haul xx

Yes, everything was on the "capsule" list, and I didn't get carried away from that list - although I could easily have done so. I did things like buy bras that fit, jeans, and a plain black skirt for work.

I think it is just the fact that I know cash is tight this month - I was trying, and doing so well, to work within my figures, that this has bothered me a bit.

However, I have no "need" to spend now on more clothes until I reach my goal weight - the more expensive work stuff, like suits & dresses are not being bought while I am changing shape, as it is unlikely they will fit properly in a few months (she says optimistically!), and by the time I get to the point of buying those things, I will have been paid, will have cleared off this months temporary borrowings, and will be able to budget for it all properly again.

    Onwards and upwards.....

You've caught it in time, Hypno, because you're listening to yourself - just take notice of what you're saying, and how you need to fit the present day into your long term plans, and you'll be fine. The only thing I notice that wasn't planned was the extra supermarket spend, what was going on there?
