dvd editing on pc? which programe to use?

I have copied a home video from vhs to dvd. Now I need to edit it but I don't know which programe to use. Is there one with windows that I can use or do I need to download something else? If so, which free one would be best to use? I have about 10 videos to go through and they all need editing really so need something that is fairly simple to use. Any suggestions?

If you don't want anything too sophisticated go with Eric's suggestion above, if you want to dabble further and have around £50 to spare, but don't want the steep learning curve or cost of Pro, Premiere Elements is as good as any imho.

I'm not getting on with windows movie maker. I've edited it and saved 3 separate clips but they won't play on anything other than window live movie maker. How do I change the file format so I can burn them onto dvd and play them on any player?

Frankly, I find Movie Maker to be total pants. I use Power Director from Cyberlink. It's not free but is easy to use and very effective.

Probably the best bet is to check youtube for tutorials on windows movie maker and the other recommendations above. When you find lots of tutorials on there you can then choose the relevent program that looks like it will do the business. Adobe premiere is good and is free if you download the trial, I think the trial lasts 30 days.

i believe once you have created a clip you can export them to different formats

its worth checking the utoob tutorials

av computability is a PITA however once you have a working clip you can convert them to any format / device with something like xmedia recode

Use DVD Flick http://www.dvdflick.net/ to convert and burn.

    Hi,
I've tried so many different programes and none of them work properly. My dvd files are VOB and when converted to wmv files, they are not the same quality and I can't see each individual frame when trying to edit them. Sometimes an hour clip gets converted to 2 mins! What else can I try?

Don't re-encode your existing VOB's. Your VOB's already contain the video in MPEG-2 format. A long time ago I used TMPEG DVD Author to make DVD's out of existing VOB's.

Or maybe have a look here

Edit: I didn't read the part where you wrote that you want to edit the Videos too. I think TMPEG DVD Author could do this too. If not, search the Videohelp site for a VOB or MPEG-2 editor.
