Evans Halshaw Nightmare!

Anyone had a bad experience with Evans Halshaw?
I bought my traded my car in on the scrappage scheme last year with Evans Halshaw and have had nothing but bother since!
First of all the car arrived a month late. Secondly I recieved a letter from DVLA a month after I got my new car telling me I had a fine for £80 because my car was on the road without tax. It turns out that evans halshaw hadnt scrapped the car in time before the tax ran out. It was sitting in their forecourt when the tax ran out.
I took the letter from DVLA to the garage and they advised me they would send a cheque off and pay it for me. I phoned a couple of days later to make sure it had been sent and the sales manager at evans halshaw assured me she had sent it herself.
Last week I recieved a letter from a debt collection agency advising me I would be taken to court if payment for the DVLA fine wasnt paid within the next 7 days.
I contacted the garage and the sales manager (who had previously advised she had sent cheque) tried to blame it on a sales person who had left to get herself out of the firing line! Thankfully it has now been paid but it should never have got to that in the first place!
My car has been back to the garage 7 times for the same problem. The service department keep telling me there is nothing wrong with the car.
My husband is a mechanic and has been in the motor trade for over 15 years so he knows exactly what the problem is...he could fix it himself but it is under warrently and if he fixed it the warrenty wouldnt be valid anymore. And I dont see why I should have to pay for parts when the garage have to pay for this under warrenty!
I am forever at the garage either dropping off my car or picking it up. I have been given numerous cursity cars all of which have not had a scrap of fuel in them when given to me, all filthy inside, full of other peoples rubbish and I was even given one without an oil cap on so there was oil all over the engine and fumes coming in the car whilst I was driving...
I would strongly advise that if anyone is looking to buy a car NOT to use evans Halshaw.

if your husband is in the trade he shouldve told you to stay clear of evans halshaw! don't have to look far to find people with similar stories! they tried to rip me off - tried to get me to pay to get a car brought 10 miles... wouldnt tell me it was 10 mile away but i found out for myself (got bless mobile internet) told them where they could stick their car!0

My husband wasnt aware of how bad the dealership was! I am well aware of the other reviews but there are similar stories about other dealerships near us...I dont suppose you are ever going to get an amazing dealership but you dont expect to have everything go wrong as soon as you sign paper work for a car!0

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE PEOPLE.
I have had a recent bad experience with this dealership, who first of all said that they would undertake to put things right in the interior of the car as 'goodwill' and then subsequently withdrew it when I took the car in two weeks later (by prior arrangment with them). I had the car prof.valeted a couple of weeks after I bought it because some of the paintwork looked dull, transpires that the car is in fact three different shades of black, and has been badly resprayed at different times. Evans Halshaw refuse to take any responsibility. I have written to their complaints person in Gateshead, and am awaiting a response. Also registered this with ConsumerDirect.0 -
Ford Evans Halshaw rip me off!
My Ford Focus (1.8 TDCi 54') had a fault with the electric windows, so i booked myself in with Evans Halshaw (Portway, Preston), fully aware of being charge a premium price.
The problem i had was, all four windows intermittently kept winding down, when attempting to lock/unlock the car.
At Ford, after the initial diagnostic (Visit 1: £75 payment made), they advised me i needed to replace a MODULE in the car - i was told the "module" currently fitted in my car was faulty and that a new module would definitely resolve my issue.
Reluctantly, i parted with a further £375 using my Visa Debit card (Visit 2) and had this new 'module' fitted. When i reached my car to drive out of the FORD forecourt, i found that the problem was NOT resolved. Immediately i walked back into the Service Centre and informed the Service Desk manager of the issue.
I was then advised to return on the weekend, so the mechanics could check the problem again.
At this point i was beginning to think, either an incorrect diagnosis had been done OR no work had been carried out – either way I was being ripped off!
I returned on the Saturday and I left my car with the mechanics (Visit 3).
Couple of days later, i received a call from Ford (Carl – Service Centre Manager) who stated that my car was ready and the problem was now solved. He explained the fault was with the 'key-fob'. At which point, i stated that if their original diagnosis had been correct, then i would only have been charged a total sum of £200 (£125 = NEW Key FOB + £75 Diagnostic); instead, their incorrect diagnosis had cost me £425 (£350 = Module + £75 Diagnostic). I continued by asking for a partial-refund, to which Carl responded “I agree the module should not have been fitted and we are sorry, but we are unable to provide a refund, however we will not charge you for the new-fob).
I explained to him again, the incorrect diagnosis had left me almost £200 out of pocket – he listened and then again responded by telling me he couldn’t do anything and that he wouldn’t be charging for the new key fob.
Ive now picked my car up (Visit 4) and the problem with the electrics seems to be resolved.
After 4 visits and a poor service, I feel extremely annoyed having being ripped off – when the very reason I took my car to Ford was to receive a premium service.
Is there anyone who can help me? If there anyway I can have my money returned?
Should I consult a solicitor? Or even trading standards.
Thanks in advance
