B&Q Dulux paint

My DH and I specifically waited until last weekend to get the paint for our hallway so we could take advantage of the 20% off.
When DH got to the Dulux mixing desk they were out of 5L tins so he had to get 2 2.5L tins which they refused to let him have for the same price as 1 5L tin.
Am I being silly for being annoyed by this. I wasn't there when he got it (I would have asked to speak to the manager) but in my eyes I dont see why they wouldn't have let us have it at the same price. Surely they should have anticipated extra demand and ordered extra 5L tins in??

If my words are missing letters then please excuse me....my keyboard is a tad dodgy!!

Most special offers are on the basis of when its gone its gone. All the 5L paint available under the 20% offer had gone, they weren't willing to make an extra gesture with the 2 smaller tins so I'm afraid its tough. The 20% offer continues into this week apparently so you could have gone back a couple of days later if the price difference was really important as opposed to needing it there and then.Adventure before Dementia!0

Mixed paint
Nooooooooooooooo its awuful, runny and goes everywhere, and you cant return it, is there not a colour from the many ranges that suits?0 -
So if Asda runs out of 200g jars of Nescafe when it's on promotion they should just let you have 2 x 100g jars for the same price?0

I think most replies missed the point of the original post - they're not saying they wanted 2x2.5l prepacked tins for the price of 1x5l - they're saying they were buying mix-it-yourself style paint - i.e. take empty tin and pour in paint - which is perhaps a different concept to the other.
I.e. if we're talking coffee, if ASDA offered the facility to "lets say" grind your own coffee and had a special price if you bought 5kg - wouldn't you feel a little miffed if they only had 2.5kg containers left and wouldn't sell them to you for the price of a 5kg container (after all, the packaging doesn't cost much)
I've not missed the fact that the store are quite "entitled" legally to act as they have (they are different products) - just pointing out that many might see it as a little pernickety.

Mix your own paint isn't poured into a tin, it's white paint and the colour is added so it's no different to buying 2 x 2.5l of ready-mixed paint.
It costs more to produce, more to package, more to transport so it's slightly more expensive and there's no reason they should offer you a discount - if they did it would be out of goodwill.0 -

You really don't know how the B&Q paint mix works...so why do you feel you can comment?0 -
I think tradings standards should get the local gendarmerie and smash the doors down and put these scammers in the slammer for the weekend. We cannot allow these people to rule on us willy nilly.
Mind you, last time I was in BnQ, some geeser wearing an orange uniform asked if I wanted decking. Good job I got the first punch in, otherwise Lawd nose what would have happened.0 -
