Moving House- but have to change back to BT?

Having been with BT for years, we recently decided to make a change and in the end we changed out phones over to the post office. We got a nice introductory offer of £25 off our bill and all-n-all our calls are working out cheaper.
However, we are now looking at moving house and having spoken to the post office, they say that they and other 3rd party suppliers can no longer change over lines when moving house, we would need to notify them that we wish to cancel - change back to BT - instruct BT to change the line to the new premises - and then on moving to the new house change back to the post office!!!!!
I simply am astounded that this is being made so difficult!

It's only a couple of phone calls!
Anyway, the Post Office only re-sell BT line rental at a small discount and their peak calls are almost as expensive as BT's (2.4p/minute as opposed to BT's 3p/minute). In fact, they're far more expensive in the evenings and at weekends - charging 1p/minute for UK 01/02 calls whereas BT charge 5.5p for up to an hour.
And their international rates are staggering when compared to what's available on the MSE International Callchecker!
Even if you do nothing else, simply using 1899 would cut the cost of all those UK 01/02 calls to 3p each (regardless of duration)!
Have a read of the MSE article on the subject (link in my signature below) and you will probably make some different choices.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
