which unlocked phone for using abroad

Can someone recommend what the cheapest phone available is that is unlocked and suitable for using in Egypt please? (probably will use it with an Egyptian vodaphone card)

Does it need to be tri/quad band? Is that the feature I need to find for it to work abroad?

I have a nokia 1208 from prepaymania that was sold on Orange but it appears to be unlocked - bu would it work in Egypt?

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.
