Orange Contract (2 Phones)

At present I have two contracts with Orange (but billed at the same time).

For the 2 phones I pay about £70 a month (I get 200 x-net mins, 50 texts and 60 mins landline and my partner gets 120 x-net mins)..

Now, my contract runs out in November and the other in January. I am finding now that paying nearly £70 a month too much for mobiles.

Would Orange be helpful and let me combine the two contracts before the 12 months is up and hopefully get a cheaper deal.

Also, with my phone the signal is rubbish so I can hardly make any calls from my home (Orange have basically said 'tough' and that it is not their problem, even though the phone was from them direct).

I want to stay with Orange (God know why), but I just want to combine the two contracts into one (where we share the minutes) and would like to get a new phone out of them as well...

Anyone got any ideas?

I don't think they will let you combine the contracts. They do do a thing called talkshare where you can share minutes between 2 mobiles (think the second phone attracts a charge of 14.50 pounds/month), but they won't let you cancel one of the contracts to merge to the other. Only thing I can suggest is you reduce the tariffs you and your partner are on - they should let you do this after 6 months.
As for the phone, that's partly what the cooling off period is for when you take out the contract, to see if you can get reception where you need it. Their T&Cs state (as do all other mobile companies) that the phone is acquired by you outside the contract and its performance or lack of unless faulty does not mean they will give you another phone or let you cancel without paying off the remainder of the contract.
