    Why would you have to give up the volunteering? If they are grateful for your volunteering, then they will be flexible. If they aren't - go volunteer with someone who will be.

    You're not allowed to hold any other employment and my volunteer job is fast becoming a part-time job in itself.

    I would check exactly what they mean by "employment". Volunteering isn't being employed.
