Car insurance help

Hi just a question

If i have a named driver on my car insurance policy and they have been given points which i have not informed the insurance about, would this affect my policy in terms of getting paid out if my car was stolen? any help appreciated.

regards

Have you had the car stolen? or is this just a question of what if ?

Advice is to tell the Insurers of the named drivers points, just in case they have an accident or they are involved when car gets stolen. If the named driver is relevant to claim, Insurers will ask questions and it could cause you problems.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

thanks for the reply it is a what if but the points were from about 6 months ago so not sure what to do? so if the named driveris not involved it would not matter?

    thanks

A speeding offence isn't likely to be material until the renewal of the policy. When was it renewed?

    Google insurable interest.

Who's the registered owner of the car?

    HAS IT BEEN STOLEN?

Sounds as if you fronted a policy for your son and did not disclose material facts to the insurers to enable them to charge the correct premium for the risk. The insurers are entitled to void the policy due to non-disclosure.

A suggestion may be to get your son to arrange cover in his own name, disclose his points and pay the correct premium for the risk.
