you can't delete it, only a BG can, i was just trying to explain that maybe tttjay was a bit late posting because of other things, Bg's thanked you so i suppose it's not really worth worrying about who posts them regular anyway :)

it's just kind of a known thing that who posts what kind of thing,

I never knew this either I always assumed that whoever got the answers first posted the comp. Can't find any mention of this in the FAQs. Perhaps you should get it put into the board rules?

think it was agreed because MSE Andrea posted that the majority of comps ie: the comp site comps could be posted by anyone but think it was agreed that mag comps were left to the regs, i can't find the post at the moment but will keep looking, here's one of them..

  • It also says on that post to keep it a friendly board, and it wasnt that friendly earlier.
You dont need to prove it to me anyway, I will not be posting another mag competition again :)

At the risk of getting splinters in my bum from sitting on the fence :o, I can see both points of view.
As Korky points out, these puzzles are posted by the same people each week who have paid for the magazine and taken time to solve the problems and post here. They're understandably put out if someone nips in when they're not posted straight away. Must be very frustrating!
This has been discussed before and the consensus, as I recall, was that they should have "1st dibs" at posting as they usually help each other out, organise someone else to do it if they can't, or post if they're really stuck.
It was also agreed that the ITV comps should be posted by regular posters as they're impossible to search for, and again, the usual posters will organise for someone else to do so if they can't.
Unfortunately, despite suggestions at the time, this information wasn't added to the comping guide, so all this has been lost in the depths of the forum.
The OP was trying to help and has gone to the effort of solving the puzzles, typing them onto here etc. They're understandably upset at the criticism when they've just tried to contribute to the forum and help us all.
However, they weren't aware of the unwritten rules - how could they be? People are quick to point out the comping guide, but it's not the complete oracle!
Perhaps now would be a good time to add this info?
I'm glad that people haven't been too harsh as it's clear (IMHO) that this is just a misunderstanding. This is a very friendly forum and it's always a shame when misunderstandings cause upset.
Welcome to MSE, Phillipaha, and I hope that you find many other comps to post that we can all enter :)
Thanks to the regular posters too - you're all stars :A

  • Thank you very much Phillipaha! Please don't be put off by posting, but if you don't feel like you want to do it again, that is completely your prerogative!

I think people should be more tactful with new members and stop getting so antsy when they don't know the 'unwritten laws' of the board, they're not to know!

Things will become clearer to you the more time you spend on here Phillipaha ;) You'll know who to trust...
  • I don't mind who posts the comp answers, just grateful people do! Thanks Philipaha & congrats on posting your first comp!
