    New or pre-reg or secondhand?

If you intend to keep it for a while then the warranty on the Kia or Hyundai is worth thinking about.

As all who know me on here I like the Fiat Panda (we have one)

I am in boycott Ford mode at the moment, ramping prices (4 price rises in a year) and withdrawing all production from the UK.

Small Honda or Toyota will be reliable.

But as you say there are loads to choose from so I would have a short list and then try to get the best deal. Wait until the scrappage scheme is out the way as dealers are really not that interested in actually selling cars (most are just order taking at the moment).

I have a 2004 reg Peugeot 206 and it has been great. You should get a newish one for £7000. The only thing I don't like is the silly 'space-saver' spare wheel - but quite a few makes do that nowadays. And I get it serviced etc at a local garage. The Peugeot dealers are a lot more expensive.

I looked at the Spark yesterday and thought the interior looked very cheap, the internal door handles are very flimsy.

Wouldn't recommend corsa or chevrolet,a friend of mine put me off chevrolet(he's in the trade)and we had a corsa.I would go for VW or VOLVO or SKODA.

Honda Jazz!!!! We have Honda Jazz (OH) and Toyota Yaris (me). I would swap for Jazz any day, unfortunately my OH doesn't like Yaris that much...

Jazz is very good car - lots of space inside, small on the outside. Economical to run.
