Switching from Orange to O2- can I keep my mobile number?
Options
Hello all...
Am currently on Orange PAYG, have been with them since '99 and was on a contract until a couple of years ago.
I know want to go back to a contract deal, but want to move to O2 as Orange don't seem to offer anything that great, I remember the days of Everyday 50 for 15 quid a month & endless free phone calls, ha ha.
The big question is, can I keep my mobile number? More for convenience than anything, I've had it for several years now & would rather not have to change.
Thanks in advance, Chick

just ask orange for the PAC code, then give it to o2 when you order your phone. Takes up to a week to change i think.
Although if they are like vodafone they can't/won't let you bring your number to certain tariffs
and if you are not doing it with o2 direct some shops/online retailers can't do it either0 -
Yeah, as above all you need is your PAC (Porting Authorisation Code), it basically gives permission for your new network to take you on as a customer and cancel the last deal (be it payg or a contract).
Different networks have different time scales so ask them theirs as you might have no coverage on that number for 1 week +. Smile, you only get one life, LIVE IT.0 -
Is there anyone knows about the number transfering policy? Basically, I want to transfer my existing t-mobile number to my O2 contract, which has been running for only 2 months. Should I just ask PAC code from t-mobile when the old contract finishes and tell O2 the number and the PAC?
Thanks!0 -
I've just taken out a contract with o2. I was told by o2 that i couldn't port my existing number across after the purchase of the contract as o2 don't accept pac codes directly.0

How did you do that? Did you ask for transfering it when you were purchasing or after that? Thanks!0 -
I think you have to port your number within the first 2 weeks of an o2 contract. Phone CS they will tell you.0

I phoned O2 CS on the second day of recieving my phone and got told they couldn't do it.0

I've been on the phone to O2 CS again and the reason why I can't port my number across is because I went through Dialaphone for the contract. I could have ported my number if I purchased it through O2.0

All i did was got my new phones with 02 contract, told them i wanted to keep my number, called tmobile got my pac code and then gave it to 02 just waiting now as it takes approx 5 days, so have a temporary number for now. Easy! Cant remember the 02 customer services number now though (from the nandset) anyone know it???Northern bird on the loose!
