I've recently got a Web'n'Walk laptop card from T-Mobile which is free if you take out a £19.99 contract for 18 months:
http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/Dispatcher?menuid=plans_webnwalk_proplans&chosenPricePlan=pmt
This is "unlimited" which in reality means 2Gb download limit and both instant messaging and VoIP are not allowed to be used over their network.
It seems to work quite well (the card also works with wireless networks) although I have only had it for a few days so far...
Speeds should increase from 384kbps to 1.8Mbps in August...
Thanks

Not enough bandwidth for me. I buy Openzone vouhers from eBay for a Fiver a pop. Low tech (compared to a mobile) however cheap.

Do you know anyone with BT Brodband. My Dad's just signed up with them and I noticed that you get an inclusive allowance of BT Openzone usage per month. He doesn't have a laptop, so I may as well get some use out of it - I think I will be trying this out next time I'm out and about.0

Can you take out a 19.99 contract with a cashback?0

bt openzone ok if you can find a wifi link place............want to use it at my appt but do not need a phone and no hotspots there so useful to be able just to use the net for work stuff.

hi lemontart
if you mean connecting using your personal mobile via bluetooth or i.r link it costs megabucks. i did it a few times on vodafone and they charged £1.75 per mb!! i ended up getting a 3g mobile connect card through my other half who works for vodafone, but they usually cost 56 quid per month for "unlimited" which gives 1gb give or take
hope this helps a bit.
steveMortgage £242500 on completion
FD CC 11/2014 £5900 (£3900 after BT)
FD loan Approx £5700
Deeply depressing total - £2541000 -

I was talking about both as I recenting saw something that vodaphone did that you can plug into laptop to use they charge £25 pm with the card cost about £56 and t mobile charge £20 per month and £56 for card on 12 month contract but card free if you sign up for 18 months. Trying to find out if anyone else does this or if I can buy card with out signing up for contract but still pay monthly........also got to make sure the laptop has approapriate slot in first place.

hi
dont think anyone does a pay as you go connect card, but vodafone do 2 levels of tariff on theirs. 1 is a "light" use of about 256mb per month for about £25 the other is the "unlimited" which really gives 1gb per month. might be better waiting for the new 3.5g which should give connect speeds of 1.4m instead of the current 370k ish speed available now. i have the current connect card and the speed is ok, but the useage limit is a pain in the bum. cant download more than about 7 cds before the rest of my useage has to be monitored..
as for the slot it should be in the side of the laptop about 70mm wide. just noticed you can buy the cards themselves on ebay for about 40 quid.
hope this helps beth
cheers
