Strawberries are tempting as I think most of mine died over the winter - however as the ceramic planter they were in is also fast disintegrating, I suspect the wiser course is to find out what has actually survived and sort out a better arrangement for next year!

Without knowing the variety (which I suspect is not on them!) its hard to tell if they are hardy or not. Just have to try it and see!

General rule of thumb, the larger & more showy the flowers, the less hardy they are

I called in to lidl this morning and all they had was some large half dead fuchsia shrubs for £7.49 and some acer trees for £14. The bedding plants looked even worse so I was a bit disappointed!

    The offer that started today

Just to say that my OH went in for me today so that I could finally get hold of some blueberry bushes. The website says both the berry bushes and the veg plants are on at 4 for £5. OH went to checkout with 3 blueberry and 1 cucumber and SA said that the cucumber should be £2.50 (???) and not in the offer . He did finally manage to get them to do them all at 4 for £5 (by scanning a £5 bottle of wine), with the help of a guy behind who was also buying blueberry bushes  whoever you are. So I don't know if it was just my store being silly or if others will have a problem if you are after the veg plants.
Quality wise I am pretty happy. I did get them first thing and the soil was still moist. They all look pretty healthy at the mo and one of the blueberry ones is already forming little blueberries. I was just expecting a piece of stick in a bag but they all have plenty of green shoots and leaves. So in the end very happy.
