If the government bodies have suggested seeing a solicitor, that's what I'd do.0

Go direct to the electricity company and ask if they can supply you direct.I love giving home made gifts, which one of my children would you like?

SORRY LUV GO AND SEE YOUR SOLICITOR
Sorry.
Without getting a separate supply put in at your own expense there's probably nothing else you can do.
What does the electric company say?0 -
what does your lease say?
Sounds like you need to see a solicitor0 -
Go and see a solicitor.
Do you pay ground rent/maintenance charges? Withhold them?0 -
Buy tokens through another flat could be an option, or contact the supply board, as above enquire into the cost of supplying you direct.
Third option would be to find out how much the tokens cost the freeholder, and enquire about distributing them yourself?0 -
Would you not be better with your own electricity supply anyway?
That way you can shop around for your supply.0 -
Where is the meter? Is it an electricity board meter or a private meter? Any pics? If its electricity board just get them to swap it for a normal meter and pay them direct.
As everyone else says, consult a solicitor, I doubt that they can legally do this.I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling

Well, I don't think he can do that. But the reason they are saying 'see a solicitor' is probably because it is not clear if your rights are private rights through your lease or public rights via statute. So, see a solicitor.

Why can't you find out who supplies the electricity and buy the token direct from them? What are you doing for electricity in the meantime? My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say
