There seems to be many people experiencing slow web surfing with AVG 9.0. My laptop has been upgraded from AVG ? free version to the full 9.0 paid for so there is no conflict with other internet security software (because they have never been on the machine).
So using sky.com as a test site (and clearing the browser cache between every test) I've found that ID Protection, Link Scanner & On-line Shield all impact the performance. This morning ID Protection was using 100% cpu.
I've now disabled all three and web page loading is good.
Problem is I bought a two year AVG licence!!!0 -
All three are unnecessary and should be disabled. Link Scanner in particular is notorious for chewing up resources and slowing down your computer, for no particular gain at all. Using a sensible browser like Firefox which has phishing protection built in makes such tools redundant.poppy100
