Tidying up my Motorola u6 PEBL

Hi folks
Got a Motorola u6 PEBL from Mr Ebay recently, and pleased with the phone, but would like to tidy up a couple of things on it so it's to my liking.
It appears to have been on an O2 contract, or the like, as O2's logo appears when I switch the phone on and off.
How can I get rid of this ?
(Not on any UK contract)
Also, when texting, I have to manually select predictive texting, (4th option using # button).
How do I have predictive text set as my 1st default ?
