Comet (or 'Come it' as some say)
Here is a company that operates a price match policy against other suppliers. Unfortunately if you do not follow an exact procedure often they will tell you they are out of stock of the item (especially if they don't like the price they have to match - which is always) and they don't know when new stocks are arriving. This of course lets them off the price match policy and you generally lose out.
Here's the procedure to get a price match from Comet that they cannot rescind on.... follow it exactly or expect Comet (and many others) to walk the other way.
Find the lowest price of the product you want LOCALLY.
Make sure it's in stock at that company.
Go to Comet and look for the SAME product in their store.
Do NOT ask about a price match.
Ask the sales person if the product is in stock at Comet - this is most important.
If the answer is yes then.....
Ask to buy one. Do not talk about the price match yet.
When you get to the sales counter AND the product is picked for you to buy it, then and only then....
Ask about the price match - confirm that the store operates this (they all do) so there should be no problem
Tell them you can buy the product for £XXX.XX at the other company
They will call the other company and match the price.
If you deviate from this Comet have been known to have excuses that the product is not in stock and they don't know when it is to be restocked. A quick visit next week will see the product in stock and available - but no one knew when the product was coming in..... draw your own conclusions.
Curry's are even worse - they say they operate a price match - but when they dislike the price they comment that it is at the managers discretion, funny how the paperwork does not say this....0 -
