I know, they all do, "lowest price" things do my head- they are rarely ever correct, weather they are from Tescos or John Lewis, they only way to get the lowest price is to do research yourself and then do the maths, shop where its cheapest and disregard any such "lowest price/price match" offers which are all a bag of hot air. Still, be nice to see if a single company would actually go as far as changing- not just for the odd case that gets posted on here, but for everyone. But I think maybe that'd be asking too much.

Well here is the quick response from Comet:-

I was sorry to note the problems that you have experienced when receiving a price match through our Oldham branch, with Richer Sounds.

Having discussed this matter with Siobhan at the Oldham branch, she has confirmed that they will price match with Richer Sounds providing the store, within 10 miles of the Comet store, has stock available. All the relevant criteria can be checked upon you return to the store.

I had the same experience in comet in preston who wouldn't match, and wouldn't even negotiate. they told me they expected to be busy and weren't interested in chasing up a price match.

i went elsewhere.

We called in our local Comets on Tuseday the 13 April 2010 to confirm that they did price match and gave the sales assistant the name of the company, he confirmed that they did indeed price match them, yesterday 15 April 2010 we went to purchase the TV ( pay day that’s why we didn’t buy on Tuesday) I approached the sales assistant and said we would like you to price match this TV please, she asked the price and store, took a deep intake of breath ( the price was £171 cheaper) and said I need to speak to the Manager

The Manager came across and asked me who had told me they would price match that company so I pointed out the sales assistant, he then promptly said we don’t price match that company, when I asked why he said we just don’t, he openly admitted that the shop I was asking them to price match against did meet all their criteria but still refused to price match, he also said they don’t Price match Richer Sounds either.

I then showed him the price promise on Comets web site ( I have internet on my Blackberry) he said I agree it does not fall into the expectations category but we don’t price match that company, when I asked him why he just said we don’t.

I was so angry :mad: at the way he dealt with the whole situation that I asked for his name and told him I would report him to Trading standards.

Me and my partner then went across to Currys who not only matched the TV but also gave us another 10% of as well.

Comets need to tell their staff and Managers the policy as clearly they make this up as they see fit. 1 :jto Currys 0 to Comet.

Just telephoned Comet 6/January/2011. I can confirm that they will not price match with Richer Sounds.

My experience with Comet Price Match is that as soon as you mention that magic word, the stuff you want is no longer in stock:( I now no longer bother to go into any of their stores.

Just what I was going to say.

Why bother with the hassle? Just buy it from RS, (assuming they have it in, but if not then the price match is irrelevant).

Why are people making life difficult for themselves? If it is cheaper in RS, and they have it in stock, buy it from there :doh:

If it is out of stock then there is no reason at all that Comet should price match, why should they?
