Phone on pre-order

Hi all

My trusty G1 had been playing up the last few days (getting really hot and battery sometimes lasting a couple of hours) so as im nearing the end of my contract decided to upgrade and finally get away from Orange!
I got a deal on Care phones website for a HTC Desire and was accepted but it said they was out of stock and on back order – I called the chap at CPWH and he said they should be getting more next week.
Since then I have found out that the phone isn’t released until the 26 of this month..

In the past with pre-order games I have received them a few days before the release date, would it be possible that I would receive the phone before the 26th?

Has anyone pre-ordered a phone and it came early? The reason im asking is that I need the phone (as im self employed) but mostly because im impatient and want my shiny new toy J

To be honest, I don't think any retailer will be getting the Desire before it's official release date. The official release date for the Desire isn't 26th March, it's 1st April (Here). I've had one on order with another supplier since 8th March, and the latest is it won't be sent out before 1st April.

t-mob have an early release date of the 26th - the phones official launch on other networks on the 1st

Tmobile are supposed to be taking pre orders from Monday 22nd. If I was you, I'd see what contracts they're offering directly, and then if they compare to CPW, cancel the CPW one. Something to be aware of is that on other forums they're saying that Tmobile will give you a 3gb monthly allowance on web browsing for Android phones ordered directly through them. If you get the Tmobile deals through CPW, it will be 1gb. That's still more than other operators though.

Deffinatly be doing that! Sounds likalot of people are looking to get this phone.. could it really make ground on the iPhone?

From the quick demo I've had and seeing the specs, it appears it will be a better device in almost every department:

- Bigger and higher resolution screen
- Higher resolution camera and a flash
- Expandable memory
- Faster processor
- Quick and responsive SenseUI
- Very fast browser with Flash (TBC)
- Completely customisable OS (if you so Desire:rotfl:) and rapidly growing App store

Aesthetically, the iPhone may still have a slight edge, but the Apple trump cards of user experience and the number of apps have pretty much been found out now by relatively weak hardware and artificially inflated costs.
