Hi minnie! Just stopping by briefly as I have some hot chocolate to make very soon.....

 re: the £126 and the 4.5 weeks. Hmm well given that Payroll have your P45, it's really bad form that you are on emergency tax.

As far as I can recall from my Payroll days, as long as the P45 was an up to date one (i.e. less than about 6 weeks old and from your last job) then it was a matter of typing in a few bits on the Payroll system in time for the next pay day.

Can they give you a reason why you are on this i.e. your P45 wasn't given in, in time for payroll cut off?

Anyway given the circumstances I think they should do all they can to give you an advance, I know you don't really want to do it but...if you have to visit your relative (again...circumstances) then £126 ain't gonna cover it all is it?

Good luck with that, let us know how you get on won't you?

Ooooh, wish I could see the kitchen....I'm picturing the sparkling taps and gleaming worktops...;) :D

    LA xx
PS My Big Fat Greek Wedding made me laugh when I saw it ages ago! What did you/do you make of it?

They have already admitted that the payroll fiasco is their mistake, but seem a bit slack in doing anything about it. I'll be onto them again in the morning and will rope in the head of department to sort it if it gets desperate.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding - I must have seen it half a dozen times and it never fails to amuse. Let's just say I see parallels! :rotfl:

That's good then that payroll have admitted their mistake.

I am sure they will right the wrongs before next pay day.

In a payroll capacity, once you've seen the error, you can do stuff 'behind the scenes' that doesn't take very long to input. As long as they do it before next pay roll cut off point (usually about a week before pay day I think) then all will be sorted on your next salary slip.

There probably isn't a lot that they can tell you now I suppose...just get their assurances (which I know you will) that they have inputted your correct tax details now to get the right code.

Sorry if I am telling you stuff you already know anyway.

No - that's very useful, LA. I will go in armed with knowledge (and a machete) tomorrow.

Mins what a mess with your salary! LA seems to know what she's talking about (thank goodness cause I don't have a clue!) so go in and give them hell!

I have a great desire for John Corbett and only wish he felt the same! However, if it was between him and Jack....

We're watching a rubbish DVD called Merlin. OH is asleep and I'm nearly there myself. How I wish tomorrow was not Monday.

Have a great week girls xx
