Oh wow! Thank you all for taking the time to worry about me!

I took off for the Dutch mountains on Friday to let someone else take care of me. He did a marvellous job so a BIG thank you!

Back to to whirlwind that is life tomorrow.

I'm officially declaring January a false start to 2007.

I'm starting it properly in February. Any takers for a 1 Feb "New Year" celebration?

  • Sometimes I forget that this is supposed to be a DFW thread...

Anyhow, I have two resolutions on the DFW front this year.

Firstly, I'm putting 10% of whatever I earn into my savings account. As I'm temping at the moment, I can do this weekly without too much pain being involved (:rotfl:) and as I've got my debts to 0% interest, it won't cost me anything on the interest front.

The money is for course fees/related expenses/dire emergencies in case I'm not lucky enough to get another award for the next academic year.

Anything left over at the end of 2007 will pay off debt.

Secondly, I'm doing a shrapnel challenge. The purse gets emptied every evening and any loose change (except £1 coins) gets put in my coin jar and will be entered onto my spreadsheet. Every time I have enough for five full coin bags (the maximum my bank allows to be paid in at one time) I'll pay it in and put it towards my debt.

    Feel free to join me.

Hi there! How nice to see you again

Good luck with the challenges, I kinda already do that, sort of but I save all copper coins and 5p pieces in a pot then take it into the bank whenever I think there is more than a couple of quid there. So I won't join your actual challenge but I'll kind of be there in spirit!

Hope the Dutch Mountains were a good place to be for you.

All the best for yet another Monday morning.....

glad to have you back min x
  • Hi LA

I've been putting my coins away for ages now, but usually end up bagging and banking them and watching the money stay in my bank account. Changing the reason for saving it will give me more focus.

The Dutch mountains were lovely - all the chips I could eat! Let's leave the FFW challenge alone until next month, eh? :rotfl:

  • Hi there Lynsayjane

Lovely to see you too looking mighty fine in that dress! Sorry to hear about your family woes and I hope they get sorted soon.

Just noticed that Judge John "I know all the laws" Deed is back again. Hurrah! Not quite Jack Bauer, but hey ho!
