Is it even possible to switch from Virgin!?..help please

Hi

I'm on the £23 a month deal, L plus weekend calls, called them as my contract was coming to an end, insited that the best they could do was offer evening calls aswell, I wanted a better deal than that.....tried Plusnet, but there is £50 fee if you are switching from Virgin...tried Sky, once I'd put my phone number it said they couldn't take over that line

Don't know where to go from there!

I'm looking for either a cheap calls and broadband package, like the Plusnet value..or wouldn't mind paying the sort of amount I do now plus a connection fee if there's a basic tv package in with it

Any advice on which companies to go to from Virgin would be great

cheers

If you are on VM cable (as opposed to Virgin National ADSL) service then you cannot switch to anyone else. VM is the only cable operator, you cannot get ADSL broadband over your cable line.
To move ISP's you will first need a working BT line. If Plusnet are offering a line install for £50, I would go with that, as BT would charge you about £125.

As macman said,VM's phone line works differently from BT/Sky ect. When you put your phone number into an ADSL Checker, such as the one you used,it wont tell you anything apart from the result you got because your number is NOT on the ADSL database as VM's phonlines are not ADSL.

I know when I worked for NTL/VM as an Service Tech,AOL did a cable service which you could get on a cable line but I dont know if they still do that.
