Transferring a Contract?
Options
Hello,
In August I'll be moving to America for a year and my current contract doesn't expire until May 2011.
Is it possible to "sell on" the contract to someone else so I'd not have to pay for a phone / service I wouldn't be using?
Would it be best to buy out the contract?
Keep the contract, sell the phone? (Less loss this way)
Keep the contract, keep the phone & sell the upgrade they'll no doubt offer me come next year?
Any advice would be great.
Thanks.

What network are you on?

I'm 99% sure thats a no, AFAIR Orange are the only ones that let you Trasfer the contract to someone else.
You'll have 9 months left on the contract, with either 9 or 13 left (18 or 24 month contract) so you'll may just be able to downgrade it to the lowest tarrif then cacel, you'll still have a termination fee but it will be lower. TM (I think) allow downgrades after 11 months.
Have you trioed calling them, they may be able to help
Selling the phone may be an idea, depends what the phone is ahnd what you would get for it. Don't forget you'll probably want a mobile in the US will it work there with a local sim?
Not sure what you mean by "sell the upgrade" Any upgrade will come with another 18/24 month contract attatched to it.0
