XXL Virgin

I have, as of today, signed up for Virgin XXL (they will install at the end of the month). I currently have the XL package. I wanted to hear from people with the XXL to see if they are happy with it and what sorts of speeds they are getting.

Thanks

I am sure as always that you might get the speed you are paying for, but for many this is not always the case. There is a newsgroup support group for virgin called virignmedia.support.broadband.cable, and there are lots of people in there who are unhappy with the speeds on the 50MB service. TBH I downgraded mine from XL to L, as I complained no end and they couldn't fix the slow speed issue I was encountering, I decided to downgrade to the lower as this is the actual speed I was getting on XL but it cost me more. I think it depends on where you live and how many others connect up to the connection in your area. good luck though, if you get 50MB it will be awesome!
  • I must admit we went with the XL package a couple of years ago while I was at Uni (5 lads all using the net at one time - it was a necessity) and even then it was not 'mindblowing' in terms of speed. I imagine very few users will actually receive up to 50MB. I think it depends how close to an exchange you are?

Well of course there are - read the name of the newsgroup again - hardly a fair representation is it!

XXL works slightly differently to XL, and you will more than likely get 45-50mb.
