If you can go on a sunny day, it is even better - take time to have a wander around, and there is a little church right opposite.
    It's so pretty and lovely.

I am really excited for you looking at all these venues!! x

  • I've had a very undweddingy (I realise that word is made up!) day today, apart from a spot of googling not really done anything towards it :(

Dizzie, yes I'm having just one bridesmaid, I've seen her today actually and she is so superly excited for the wedding some people would probably say its a bit early to have asked her but I can't keep things to myself for very long, I'm rubbish! She cried when I asked her earlier in the week and today I took her a card and some flowers to thank her for agreeing and to warn her of all the tasks I've got her lined up for her in the planning- haha! She cried again! Bless her!

OH is having a best man, they've been friends for years and years and he is so lovely and I know he will do a brilliant job. It's nice that I can trust him completely as well as OH. We are hoping to ask him if he will play our first dance song acoustically on the guitar as his wedding present to us.

    I'm actually just rambling now...AGAIN! lol:rotfl:

I could talk about our wedding plans (even though there aren't that many yet) for hours! It is all I can think about and I haven't really slept properly since OH proposed a week and a half ago!:D

That's lovely.....it's so nice to have plans.
The first time I was a bridesmaid, I was asked 2 years before the wedding...!!

It is nice that you both have best friends that you can trust to be an extra special part of the day too.

    Next venue viewing tomorrow.....whooo hooooo!!

  • It was horrible, really not our taste at all. Didn't like the lady very much either, she seemed to be rushing us through and was very much like a sales rep. To be honest I couldn't wait to get out so was glad she was rushing in a way. When we came out we looked at each other and both just said "No way!"

Fingers crossed for Saturdays venue now, this is the one I am REALLY REALLY excited about, I have a good feeling about it and I hope to heaven that it doesn't disappoint me.

Dizzie, thanks so much for sharing in my excitement- its really lovely of you.

This was the conference centre place? I didn't think that would be you, somehow (odd thing to say when I don't even know you!!)

I think that the organisers in conference type places are really different because they are used to dealing with business people who aren't that bothered about the actual appearance of the place, as long as it's tidy - they are more concerned about there being enough room and the tea/coffee being on time..!!

How many other venues have you got to look at?

the one on Saturday, is that a little country hotel??

  • Yes it was the conference centre tonight, I think you're right about the way the staff are to be honest. You've hit the nail on the head!

The one on Saturday is the country restaurant/pub:

I really love the look of it and am sooo excited about it. We have another place to see on Sunday which is a small hotel by a river which looks lovely. Then there is a Country Hall which we're hoping to see on sunday aswell if there is time. I've also emailed one more venue tonight, a hotel that I'd never even seen before but we drove past it yesterday and it looks really nice.

The more I think about the venue we saw on Saturday the more I can picture us there, it really is beautiful but I know I need to see these other places first because they might be beautiful too.

ohhh - I can see why you're excited about Saturday! That looks lovely...!

It is a really good idea to go and have a look at lots of different places - if you find your hearts being tugged back to a particular venue, you know it's the one...!
A lot of it is about how it makes you feel - and the staff showing you around are a big part of that.

I know when I've looked at venues for other things before, if the staff are grumpy, or just not that interested, I go somewhere else....it's important to me that guests are greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome, and it really is true that a smile goes a long way...!

Have you got any other wedding plans this week? or back to reality until Saturday??

  • Thank you, it really is gorgeous!

I definately think you are right about the staff, the lady on Saturday was really nice, got us a cuppa and let us sit and read through the brochure and look at photo's of other weddings at the venue. Took us round and let me inspect the views through every window and pointed out where decorations could go to add the the event. She said, flowers and candles look really nice on these window ledges (very deep window ledges) but it doesn't need to be expensive, a couple of £ from asda flowers will look just as lovely as £30 from the florist. I just think her manner was brilliant, she made us feel totally at ease!

No definate wedding plans this week until Saturday but I am googling lots of things all the time, looking at dresses, favours, pictures of other weddings etc etc. It's all I can think about.

I've just realised, I have absolutely no clue where abouts you're at? Are you married already?, planning? Or do you just have a wealth of experience with these things?
