Have you sold your car privately recently?

Considering this as an option; are people finding it particularly hard to sell cars at the mo?
Looking at part ex'ing car or selling privately and buying a new car; not sure if selling privately worth the hassle. It's a VW Polo (07 plate, 25k miles, great condition)....

I think it depends on the car make and model tbh. I'm constantly checking Autotrader at the min as waiting for my insurance settlement and Ford Focuses/ Vauxhall Astras don't seem to be on there very long. It also depends on how much they are fetching at the moment and how much the dealer was prepared to offer for it, but I think if you're not in a huge hurry for a sale, I would advertise it on Autotrader or Pistonheads (for free) and see what interest you get as you are bound to get more money by selling privately than by part ex-ing.
I've had a quick look at Autotrader and they seem to be anywhere from £4700 + .BSC support number 158

if it's a good example sell privately. however, bear in mind that list price doesn't necessarily mean sale price and the actual prices people are getting for their cars might be quite a bit lower. a lot of cars I've looked at just aren't selling going by the age of some of the adverts and a lot of the time it's because people are just asking too much (but price against other's ads so they assume it's the 'correct' price).0

I am in the market for a replacement used car/cars. I have looked at many, Ibiza/Leon/Golf/Mercedes C Class. The prices advertised for 2-5 year old metal in my opinion are too high. I am in no rush, so have not bought and until I see a good deal, am content with my existing cars.Mortgage free

Price to sell or it won't go.
I sold one in November, be realistic with what you ask.

As above; most folk seem to think their car is something special. It isn't.0

I will " Thank You " I thought it was a very useful post, harsh, but factual..;)
I agree, any car WILL find it's market value if well advertised, if it doesn't someone needs a reallity check, usually the vendor :TI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
