Vapourate, how about living in a state where people hold personal information about you, or not that they wont tell you they have but it may be inaccurate.0

I already know the UK gov has a file on everyone. We also have more CCTV than the U.S.
America is no different. Theoretically, they may be more stringent.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Why Not. This seems unfair if they might be basing thier decision on something that is not accurate or true. Every refusal should be supported with a justifiable reason
Their justifiable reason is you do not meet their requirements. If, as you say, do nothing to make the bank money why should they do business with you?
They dont have to.
Besides, why worry, there are lots of great banks, and if you have a good credit rating as you say, all of them will likely be delighted to have your business.0 -
Yes, will cross to a decent bank that might treat thier customers with a bit more respect.0

I agree with Bengal, the OP is missing something out here. Banks don't just close accounts, there must have been something happening with the account that warranted closure.

Not missing any thing Paddy!! Bank acoount was closed to have a joint bank account. Closed at 12 OClock then refused to open or reopen it at 1205, no bank account since, no reason given, no reason in total0

You only have to look at how much Bank Bonuses and profits add up to and how the banking system has taken this country to the financial state that its in to realise that the Banks are out of control and a law unto themselves0

you are missing something...why would having a joint account mean they close it? there must be some reason. it would also explain why you fail internal scoring
until you shed light on the fundamental reasons then you'll get no real sympathy or solutionsDebts at LBM (May '08) £5760 - Lloyds CC £4260, Lloyds OD £1500;Debts as of May 28th 2011:Santander CC: £0.00Lloyds OD : £0.00DFW Nerd #1247 - Proudly dealt with my Debts

surely your solo account wouldn't be closed at all, or at the very least until the joint account details were in place?
did they write you a cheque for the money that was in those accounts?0
