Sellers will hate me for saying this, but forget the hassle, leave a neg (mention stains and not as described) and bin it. For low value items like this (which I hate when there's a problem with the purchase), I would not waste my time chasing up something which I'd probably end up going out of pocket on if I had to return it. Even if the seller goes out of their way to return postage costs, they can't return wasted time. Item should have been accurately described - otherwise an automatic neg from me. Of course, that's my opinion :)

thanks for everyone's advice :) im glad it wasn't me just being picky!

i don't think i'd go so far as to return for refund etc and there is no point in a partial as winning bid was only 3.20.
i was thinking of maybe leaving a positve (her p&p was reasonable and it was delivered very quick) and just mentioning the stains, maybe a neutral if they don't come out and giving her a low mark on as described. does this sound ok or should i really email her before, like i said, not really bothered about refund etc so there doesn't seem any point in emailing her?
Can you see the mountains through the fog?

Once I sold something that I honestly didnt realise had a stain on it. I had washed it before listing & it was fine so the mark must have happened while it was waiting to sell. When I packed it I thought I had checked it all over, but obviously missed it :o

I was grateful that the buyer contacted me first before leaving feedback. I refunded the whole amount & told her not to worry about returning. The feedback she left was nice (although I would imagine she marked me down on "as described"). Now I am super careful when selling clothing.

I know some sellers take the mickey, but it could be an honest mistake. For the sake of a polite e-mail I would contact them & then go from there.

I think as a seller this is a bit harsh not many would list something low value with stains on purpose. I would be looking at giving a full refund and letting the op keep the item. I don't see how a 30 second email is a waste time when op gets item for nothing and the seller may be able to salvage some good f/b.
