Beware jumping ship too soon from Talktalk

I was a tiscali customer who were the most useless company I have ever dealt with. As you know they have been taken over by Talktalk.
I live just outside Worcester on a rural exchange which is not unbundled therefore my choices and prices are a little limited.
I received a letter from Talktalk saying that my broadband price would increase by £3 per month. This is not a large figure but is hardly a welcome to Talktalk. I requested my MAC code which was given. I then had 3 calls from Talktalk offering me a phone package of free evening and weekend calls but I already had this from Primus. I asked for them to put the broadband back to its original price but they refused.
My service seemed to drop on a regular basis so thought a change of supplier was due.
I changed to Plusnet. £12.99 per month. The changeover was incredibly slick, so much different to Tiscali.
The only problem is that with Talktalk I had an unlimited download tariff which ran at 6.5M. Plusnet has a 10G monthly download limit and runs at 5.5M. I didn't realise the implications of the download limit initially but 10G is not huge. If you download from iplayer you will run out of bandwidth very quickly, if you go over you have to pay £2 for 2G but this will soon change to £5 for 5G. This cannot be carried over to the next month. (Downloads after midnight - 8AM is free for people who can't sleep)
In hindsight I should have remained with Talktalk and bought a new router (this was the cause of the drop outs) I would then have had an unlimited download for only £3 more. The 10G download causes stress constantly checking how close one is to the download limit.
I thought in a year I can go back but talktalk say it will be £5.99 per month Plus £15 per month non-network fee. They obviously only want customers on their LLU exchanges.
I am obviously stupid & grumpy but the moral of this tale is look before you leap.
