buy as you view

ok i have an account with buy as you view, and i believe i have been missold warrentys and insurances on the products, i bought a tv 3 years ago and it was almost paid off when i got a bed from them, now i worked out what the new payment should be myself this time and when the quoted me a higher figure i thought i must have worked it out wrong, a couple of months after i phoned them to query my account and they said the payment prices were also subject to warrenties and insurance that covered things like theft of the items or accidental damage now i would never have taken this out as i have my own home insurance to cover these things, i was never informed i would be purchasing these things but looking back at credit aggrements they are on there but its not very clear do i have a case to claim these back? i have been paying about an extra 6 quid a week for like 4 years which would be like 1200 for these covers i didnt know about or need.

cheers garry

    hmm yes somewhere
  • well it would be easier if you do have the paperwork as even if the company which sold the policies has gone bust or into administration you can still get compensation from the financial services compensation scheme

If the business are listed with the Financial compensation Scheme then you reclaim through them as Andrew have stated, you contact them to arrange for them to send you a claim form through the post, details here:

    Good luck.

Received a letter of decision made ,suprise suprise ,it states they believe I was not sold the warranty unfairly . I am now awaiting form of the ombudsman to submit a complaint of miss sold warranty and a few other issues I have with regards to my agreements . How they can justify £75.00 warranty charge for an £89.00 item is beyond belief . I have spoken to 2 past collection agents of Buy As You View ,both state they had to sell the warranty along with the goods ,or would have a b*****ng for it . Not once was I ever asked if I wanted this extended warranty ,or if I had my own insurance ,or that if i wished to do so I could seek a cheaper option .Alsp paying interset upon interest for this warranty and arrangement fees at £15 - £30 a time .Also agreements can not be found . I will fight this decision all the way .

It is also worring after reading an article I found on the internet dated 31st July 2008 on Walesonline , on how personal data is disposed of with Buy As You View
