these unions are scum.
some cabin crew are on 60k!!! sack them all, wind it up and then reopen, offering them all their jobs back on 20k plus reduced benefits and perks.
these scumbags need to learn who is boss.
the unions and labour will destroy this country!!!

The General consensus seems to be that unite are a union out of control,.. With the colossal loses BA are Making rationalisation is the only way forward, or as the op suggests, it becomes unviable as a going concern.0

Reported on the news this morning that Unite are now asking their American counter-part (the Teamsters) to assist in obstructing and generally making life difficult for any BA planes that attempt to land on US soil.

I doubt the American workers would jeapordise their own jobs to go out on wildcat actions (the US airline industry is not entirely rosie itself), but they may at least make it difficult for passengers by maybe being more slower than usual in handling luggage, slower to do p;lanemaitenance checks on the plances, etc.
The fact that Unite are trying to take this global does seem to suggest a certain 'wild eyed frenzy' in their objectives and seems a million miles away from standing up for the common man and his rights.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -

I thought the same thing as White Horse this morning, why not just wind up with a pre-pack agreement, buy everything back without the debts and the baggage (pardon the pun) and start again afresh.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. they are scum - the Teamsters should take a look at what they did to detroit's motor industry.
these people are sick. they want more and more and more, until everyone is teh managing director all on 500k a year. meanwhile, in the real world the company dies under the burdens the unions put on it.0 -

And as a shareholder would you be happy that your shares suddenly become worthless?
As a ceditor would you allow it - you'd want the adminstrator to get the best possible price which would mean auctioning off BA's landing slots at heathrow etc0 -
On the radio yesterday, BA were hoping to have 60% of their customers flying at the weekend.
I don't know about you, but if I pay BA ticket prices, I want 100% of me to be flying.
The interesting side topic to this story is how Labour find it difficult to be neutral in dealing with Unions who provide their financial lifeblood.0
