i don't know why BA doesn't wind itself up and start again without Unite interference

Sadly I see BA going the way of Rover, Fleet Street Printers, Coal miners etc. The union just cannot seem to get their head round the fact that workers need to adapt to keep a business going in a competitive environment.
you said it. lets add GM, Chrysler and Ford to that list of companies ruined by Unions. They only exist because of bail outs.0 -

I feel sorry for the rest of BA's staff - the Cabin crew can ruin the airline and all their collegues will pay the price.
Thats what put me off unions - they'll crush their brother and sisters to protect differentiation.
Why is that just the Cabin crew had a vote? why not all the BA staff?0 -
I have been in that situation and went on strike its called democracy. You don’t have to join a union so if you do you should be prepared to abide by what the majority wants or leave
and the union members simply let the non union members get on with their jobs don't they. no picket lines, no "scab" name calling, no nothing. thoroughly decent people these unionistas.0 -

some cabin crew are on 60k!!! sack them all, wind it up and then reopen,
Given the size of the pension deficit, if they tried that one the entire company would end up owned by the pension fund. The stock holders would get nothing. Whereas, with the agreement Unite entered into this week, which increases pension fund contributions by staff, the shareholders will keep a business which will become viable in the long term.
In other words, the unions and employees are actually keeping the business open right now.
Tis a strange world.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I didn’t think you were the type of person to get upset by a bit of name-calling or is it only you who are allowed to do that.0 -
I do not know abouit him, but I am self employed and am going to go on strike for more pay and better conditions. I do not care that there will be no money to pay for it as the company will be making a loss, I think I am worth it.0

I bet he doesn’t tell you
Well, either he is unemployed (and therefore scum) or employed (and therefore scum).
Well, he could be a slave which would seem to be the only virtuous way to be in his mirror-world.Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable. J. K. Galbraith0
