old bill!!!!!

Hi guys, probably been asked a 100 times before....

just recived a letter from anglian water about an old address where i used to live 7 years ago, they have asked me to contact them to let them know that i am the same person!!
if they send me a bill for the old adress do i have to pay it? bearing in mind it was over 7 years ago???

I think they can only chase a debt upto 6 years, but someone will be along to clarify.

They can back bill for 6 years but can chase for longer, you should ask the CAB as each company works to slightly different rules ( as long as allowed by OFWAT )

As long as a bill was raised within 6 years they can chase you for it as long as they like.

Put it this way, if someone has a mass of outstanding bills, they can't go abroad for 6 years and then come back to UK with the slate wiped clean.

The 6 year provision is where they failed to bill you.
