Anyone have any recommendations about reliable good value conference call services? I would like to use one in my business.

Best I have found so far is saveonconferences.co.uk. As far as I can tell, the way it works is any participants in the call dial an 0207 number (so that costs 1p, with 18866), then they input an access code to join the conference. The phone number and access code are always the same, so you just need to agree when everyone will dial in. The conference host (in this case, me) pays 4.5p per minute, per participant.

So, for 4 people, that's 18p a minute plus whatever their carrier charges for calls to an 0207 number. Which sounds like a lot, but is cheaper than BT, who charge 22p per minute, per participant (though they do supply an 0800 number for the dial-in).

Anyone had any good or bad experiences with saveonconferences.co.uk?

  • No subscription fees, no registration, just pay as you use via the phone bill of each participant. Uses 0845 access number.

Set up by a church group to encourage prayer meetings - but can be used for any purpose. Worth a look. I have found it very reliable.

Wow, this site never ceases to amaze me. That service sounds great. Except I am not sure if people from overseas can call a UK 0845 number, so maybe it would not suit if people need to call in from abroad.

Update: Some guys in Amsterdam managed to call in to the 0845 number just fine.

  • OK, then, if 0845 local ratemight be too expensive for you or a problem not being internationallycompatable, thrn try https://www.freeconferencecall.com where you can use a standard US landline number - which is 3p fixed fee for as long as you like with www.1899.com!

    UPDATE!

I have noticed that the site I mentioned earlier now offer 0800 freephone call conferencing, with no sign-up or preregistering, costing the equivalent of 5p/min via a premium rate top up system.

A rather usual way to pay, but it seems much cheaper than the BT system using 0800 access - and I suppose there is no billing or registration before hand.

    Has anyone tried it?
