Ivan
I had been paying roughly £10 a month back, sometimes it would vary to five or six weeks. This was because SP wrongly calculated my payments initially. They actually said my payments would go down from the £25 a month I was paying to £18. I told them to keep it at £20, and just as well I did else it would be even more. The struggle to pay £50-£60 a month has been horrendous so you can see why I am so worried with current prices being as they are. It has actually been cleared a month or so back, but because of the strange way SP display their billing, I have been making sure I am straight, ready for the anniversary statement that will come later this month. They have a peculiar way of doing their bills, that are very misleading. When I go online and view "paper bill" it will show the statement for the last bill that was sent out, which can be up to three months previous. All payments that have been made since that bill show as either arrears coming down, or any outstanding bill cleared and actually in credit. This is very misleading as it doesn't allow for the fuel you have actually used since the last bill. This is even the case when you put your own updated meter readings in, and login in the day after. Therefore you don't really know where you are up to, unless you take the time and hassle of taking your own meter reading, and trying to work out the difference.
I have checked what my tariffs are at my present capped rate which will last until March of next year. It looks very frightning for the future, when you see the difference of my current capped tariff., and what the average cheaper tariffs are now.
5.220 = Electric 1.368 = Gas
Standing Charge per day are:- 17.080p + 16.730p0 -
everyone seems to be critisizing british gas, but after looking it up on uswitch we actually moved to british gas and are now CHEAPER off than before! We do have electric only and that might make a difference? (heating is by oil tank)0

What are you paying for your gas mathome? I have done a quick updated search at all the different tariffs (as I do periodically) And Ebico's Equipower is a straightforward 7.73 per kwh with no standing charge. So far looks like the cheapest, although I haven't trawled through every single supplier yet0

Gas at 7.73? presumably you mean electricity.
The problem with Electricity is that you can't compare prices unless you live in the same area.0 -
Ebico are due a rise in September though. So remember that before making a change. Although they are a non profit supplier doesn't mean they want to go under by charging to little.0

Apologies, yes, I did mean electricity, and I am aware of the differences from area to area, and also aware their prices are probably due to go up. I have in fact e-mailed them asking if they are putting their prices up and if they know how much. On the whole though they do seem much cheaper, even if going by the gas alone.0 -

Gal is right.
Ebico have not raised prices since sept 2005 which means they are due quite a BIG rise.
Even though they are a christian company and don't make huge profits it's pretty much inevitable that they will need to raise prices.
Other companies have increased prices 2 or 3 times during that period.
I am with British Gas (discounted electricity).
Ebico show up as being cheaper right now, but I'm holding fire to see what happens after their price rises.
I am expecting that British gas will still be cheaper for me.
I can't fault Britsh Gas and I've been through all my bills with a fine tooth comb.0 -

They said they wouldn't put up prices until at least September 2006.
I doubt whether they will give you advance warning over everyone else, but if they do please post the answer on this site.0 -

I changed in november by the way and took the capped price option.0
