Talk Talk problems

Has anyone experienced shocking service from Talk Talk.
I have been waiting very patiently for nearly 4 ( yes four ) months now to be connected with broadband through Talk Talk.
There has been a whole series of !!!! ups on their behalf.
When i placed my order at the begining of November 2009 i was given a "live date " of 20th december. This never happened, so i made contact with them and was told that my order was never processed and would recieve my router etc in the post along with a live date. This live date was 8th Jan. I installed the disc on the 9th and a message came up at the end of the install and said there is a problem. Phoned up and was told i hadnt gone live yet. i was told that it wouldnt be going live until 26th Jan. Once again this date came and went. Tried calling one weekend and was told a engineer would call me in a few days, this never happened. I finally got to speak to a manager at the end of february, after requesting a call back from one on numerous occasions, and he said that his job was to chase up these bad accounts and assured me that i would be connected on 15th of March. Hasnt happened as you may have guessed. I tried to call this evening and was told that the " system" was down, something which happens alot with Talk Talk when you phone them.
Where do i satand with regards to this problem, i have been paying for a service now for 4 months which i have'nt recieved. I know that with Talk Talk you pay for the phone service and the broadband is free but surely a customer shouldnt have to put up with this for so long. Would i be able to get out of my 18month contract or am i stuck with this incompetent provider for another 14 months?
All comments and info would be greatly appreciated

The contract starts on activation of broadband, then there is a 30 day trial period. As your broadband is not active, you're not yet in a contract.

"if you join TalkTalk for calls, linerental and broadband on or after 16 March 2009 you can terminate yourTalkTalk contract without paying the normal disconnection fee if you tellus within 30 days after you go live on the TalkTalk broadband service"
  • Oh yes, Talk Talk have an appauling reputation and I too experienced horrendous difficulty in getting my broadband connection sorted and after so many excuses I cancelled. Owed them about £3, cancelled my DD as I knew they would overcharge me, asked them to bill me for the correct amount and I'd send a cheque, kept sending wrong bills, rang to discuss, they agreed I was correct and would send me a correct bill, this never happened and they referred my non payment to debt collection agency with a fee and I ended up paying approx £50. Still trying to get the overpayment back and when I speak to them they promise to sort it but it never arrives. Worst service I have ever received from any company anywhere for any kind of service. Do not go near is my advice. Also widely renowed for not letting people go, making it as diffucult as possible. If this is the best deal you can find, go for the next best instead as no other company could be as bad as Talk Talk I promise you because I have been there.
  • So i can leave them? If thats the case then i will be doing that as soon as i get chance in the next few days then. Thanks for the advice. I have never experienced such bad customer service. You get passed around for fun and then get off when your supposed to be put on hold. I could go on all night but i will leave it there.
  • Just phoned Talk Talk to cancel my service with them. Spoke to a nice lady who was trying to keep me with them. She told me the problem with my order was something to do with the broadband signal not being able to get passed the voicemail. She told me that the broadband wouldnt be going live for a while due to her spotting this fault. So basically everytime i have phoned them up over the last 4 months they have just been telling me 3 weeks, 3 weeks, 3 weeks. Well i am not giving talk Talk anymore of our money and have told them i am leaving. Have sorted another provider so will hopefully be up and running with a proper company very soon.
Goodbye talk Talk, you wont be missed.

Well I have to give TT 10 out of 10 for ingenuity anyway...
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • There is a thread somewhere on here where someone who works for TT says that the people in the outsource centres " dont know alot and tell the customer that broadband will be active in 3 weeks" this is one of their standard lines to fob the customer off. Priceless, glad i am well shot of them. Although i am expecting problems with my final bill if what i have read on here is anything to go by. Just goes to show cheap isnt always best.
