I opened a second classic current account online then upgraded to vantage, no problem.
I could not stand a 50 minute sales pitch, I would rather watch paint dry."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

When I opened my 7(in the days when you could) - in branch, I was totally brazen...Despite everything read here over the months, I still didn't have the bottle to ask for 3 accounts!
Was hoping to open another 2 online a little later on, but it sounds from Essex123's experience this may not be possible... will try, but may just have to take courage and go into the branch again if not. It's those questions as I had today like "Why do you want this a/c" and "What will you be using it for" which deter me from being 'brave enough' to brazenly say "I won't be using them for anything, I just want the 4%"!! I'm a wuss
"I'd like to open 7 - just for the interest", and I don't need any other products, so please no sales pitch". They opened 1 whilst I was there, and "cloned" the other 6 after I left. It took about 10 mins and by the time I got home all 7 were available to use on-line. - SO GO FOR IT!0 -
I would not get so uptight opening more than 1 a/c. It is only just over 3% (after tax) that you will be getting on max. £7000, so not an earth shattering amount of interest, we are talking here.0

Times have changed - 3+% net for instant access is currently earth shatteringpconstable wrote: »I would not get so uptight opening more than 1 a/c. It is only just over 3% (after tax) that you will be getting on max. £7000, so not an earth shattering amount of interest, we are talking here.

The prospect of earning 4% instant access on up to £21,000 may not be 'earth shattering' but it is significantly better than the alternatives currently available.0

Thanks D1zzy and all!
I know, I know... need more 'moral fibre' as my dad would have put it.

To be fair there wasn't a sales pitch (had enough moral fibre to pre-empt that!). That's just as long as it took: don't have any type of LTSB a/c so they were starting from scratch, had to copy ID, ask all the questions etc + a small amount of chit-chat as it turned out she used to work at the old TSB which we knew well many years ago.~cottager0 -
I'd noted it states clearly on the website that 3 are allowed, and rang the 0800 number to open a second one. This was very easy, with a very friendly person on the other end of the line. It was pretty quick, as a lot of the questions had already been answered on my original application.
The only odd thing was they are only allowed to open one Vantage per customer per day - but the person I spoke to offered to call me back the next day at a time that was suitable to me to arrange the third one.0 -

That is odd as we opened all 3 a/cs in one visit to the branch.
Odd indeed!

I have just applied online.
So... I can setup a standing order from my now current account of paying £1000.01 in, on say the 2nd, and have the vantage standing order setup to pay it back the day later to my old current account, and that will be fine?????0 -

You dont need to pay the penny, just a straight £1000, and you can do the standing orders on the same day if you want.Justice for the 96 YNWA
