As with any large group of customers, there are many, many happy people to the 1 or 2 who have a bad experience.
Just because you had a bad experience doesnt mean that everyone suddenly will.0 -
OK, I'm going to say it. I moved to Nationwide from Abbey about two years ago. I moved from Abbey because they couldn't manage to get my new address right on all the accounts I had with them, which seemed to me to be a rather basic thing. Even after conversations with the deputy manager and the manager, it still wasn't sorted, so I ended a 17 year banking relationship with them and moved to Nationwide.
And I can't fault Nationwide at all. I think they are wonderful.
I'm sorry the OP has had problems, but I would suggest they are the exception rather than the rule.0 -
I have had a Nationwide cc for many years and found the customer service to be spot on.
They called me when fraud was suspected to stop an unusual transaction (it was legit - I was buying an engagement ring), they upped my limit when I needed it to stooze a car loan and when the card was misplaced I had a replacement within 3 days.
Thumbs up Nationwide from me0 -
Although I have a 6.5k credit limit with them, overall their service to me has been ok, but there was one MAJOR issue they messed up with my mortgage, basically they never listened to me, I was raging about it at the time!
Cost me a few quid in the end...well actually a lot of quids and they weren't good enough to stand up and be counted for their poor service.0 -

I don't know about that!!
I have had endless troubles with my application. They couldn't find it, I had to go in and do a new one, the original one was on the system, etc etc. Took me three weeks to get the application sorted out, and that is before the card has even been ordered.
To be honest, I just want the card for my overseas purchases. However, I do expect my application to be acknowledged when it is done over the phone with one of THEIR staff members.
Perhaps they are just having a really busy time, afterall, nearly every company I deal with at the moment is short staffed because of staff holidays.
Anyways, I will enjoy using my card, knowing that I am saving money! "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion". _party_0 -
I'm currently trying to apply for their FlexAccount to get the debit card. I've had nothing but problems, both trying to apply (I've not actually got that far yet, though I have successfully registered for internet banking without any products to manage online!) and with their online 'report a problem' forms.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

Best to phone or go in person if you can - they are not too hot at answering queries via the websiteNot buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0 -
I've never had problems contacting Nationwide Credit card by phone - always been answered within a couple of minutes and they've been very helpful. Maybe you either called at a busy time of day, or they are very short staffed, or you were just unlucky.
I wonder if which card you apply for will affect your limit? It would make sense if they were less willing to give a high limit on the 0% card than on the Comic Relief card which has no interest free introductory offer. I applied for the Comic Relief card a little over a year ago and was given a £1500 limit, and I am "just" a student. Of course their policy may have changed since then.
The only problem I had was when I requested a new direct debit form using the online system and they promptly sent me an envelope without the form in! Although I guess that was just an oversight on the part of whoever stuffs the envelopes. This was rectified after another online message.student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0 -
