Orange - mis-sold home broadband

Hi all
Am having a problem with Orange.
Aug 08 - took out an 18 month mobile contract with Orange.
Oct 08 - phone call out of the blue from Orange, offering me free home broadband "for as long as I keep my mobile contract, provided I switch to Orange as the service provider for all my home landline calls". I accepted this. Broadband started. No charges. So far so good.
Dec 09 - phone call out of the blue from Orange, offering me a new 18 month mobile contract with a new phone and more minutes and texts for less money than I was paying before, with home broadband unlimited usage and home landline staying the same.
I thought this was too good to be true, so emailed the person I'd been dealing with details of all the above, asking him to confirm that my understanding of the contract Orange offered me was correct. Back came the reply 'yes this is all correct' - with no mention whatsoever of me having to start paying for home broadband once on the new contract. I accepted this and the new contract started.
Imagine my surprise when I checked my bank statements last week, to discover that I have been getting charged £7 per month for Orange Home Broadband since Dec 09!
I have complained to Orange about this and await a reply, but in the meantime just wondered whether anyone else has had the same problem?

£7 is the cost of O2 home starter with the mobile phone discount - however that's on a BT landline ?
The Orange home Max with mobile phone discount is £6.50 a month, and then £10.50 for the Orange line rental.
Do you know which Orange home broadband package you have and whether you have line rental with BT or Orange?0 -
Hi there. The same thing has more or less happened to me. We were told that if we took out an 18 month phone contract we would get our existing broadband free. At that time we were paying £17.99 for it.
Natrually, we jumped at this offer. Now this week, we have noticed that we are still paying for it several months later.
Have been sending emails to them explaining the problem and they have told us they will look into it. I did call them tonight and they did tell me that they didnt think there was much they could do. I have asked for them to give me an email address for their complaints deptartment. So just need to wait and see what happens.
Not holding my breath. Think I'm going to go elsewhere cause have been looking around and there are companies offering better deals.
Good Luck.x0 -
Yes - similar thing happened to us. If we took out a contract we'd get a good broadband and home phone deal which was cheaper than our existing one. The man in the shop reassured us that the amount specified would be the amount that we'd pay - so we signed. We then got a bill costing £7 more a month than we'd agreed. On querying it we were told that we were NOT in the correct broadband area for Orange so had to pay extra. We weren't told this so I felt that it had been mis sold to us.
Naturally we complained and the man in the shop said that he had told us about the £7 charge and the manager took his side. We then contacted head office and had to fight for weeks before we got anywhere. NOT HAPPY.
Good Luck - keep fighting!!0
