iPhone Insurance when bought from Ebay

Not sure if this is in the right area... but I bought on a BUY IT NOW (not a bidding auction) EBAY iPHONE 3GS brand new mobile phone. Now, being a sensible chap, I wanna insure it but I cant find any insurance online that will allow me to insure it as they all exclude items "bought from an online auction". So... Does anyone know how and where I can insure my iPhone 3GS (Its the new 3GS so its brand new as it was in a sealed box).

Any ideas??! Thank you.

You generally need a purchase receipt from a shop, not a private seller to get it insured. proof that it was brought new not 2nd hand.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
  • I just bought my 2nd iPhone from eBay ( I simply cannot afford to buy new and anyway, both phones like new) however, I too have tried (and failed!) to insure my phones. My bank offered me mobile phone insurance and I was paying for it for 2 months before |I thought to ask if my ebay bought phone was covered. They said as long as you have a proper receipt (basically anything BUT what you can get from ebay and paypal!), it would be covered. In other words, NO, it isn't covered if bought from ebay!
I notice this thread has stopped dead, I presume that's because nobody knows of any insurance company that will cover ebay bought phones? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks:beer:

With the reason theres no traceability. Lets say I keep my phone 2 years then sell it to you as brand new via ebay.

It's clearly not new despite being sold as, and if it's fully reset and with no markings you may think it was, but theres no easy way to trace it, you could check the warranty but insurance compnaies don't want the hassle, hence legitimate retailer or no insurance..

Have you tried adding it on to your home contents insurance?
If you have eBay/Paypal purchase documentation, plus the IMEI and serial nos recorded and photographed, I'd have thought that was sufficient evidence of purchase and ownership?
