Double Glazing, any recommendations?

Yea it does, only one of my windows are that size, he quoted 1600 just for the four windows (£400 per window seems excessive) and 1800 for the bay alone. I was feeling a bit dubious well he touched the bay and informed me the wood was a bit spongey, I pressed, pushed and banged the part he had touched after he left and it most certainly was not.0

i suggest you get a few more people to come and look at it
Tell them that you're thinking of doing it in the next month or so (even if you're not)
i have a feeling you'll get the run around otherwise
are you having new wood or upvc?0 -
I have just ordered 8 windows, 3 of which are 5ft x 3ft and A rated energy efficient plus a composite door from Direct Windows in Blackpool for £28000

Interesting. Can one save on the first 1/3 by buying some of the windows on Ebay? Or will the builders charge more anyway?I would recommend a good local joiner who comes recommended rather than the big double glazing companies. From my experience the cost you pay comes in three thirds, 1/3 is the cost of the windows/conservatory/units etc, 1/3 is the the cost of the joiners and builders, 1/3 is profit.0 -

You can buy them direct from the manufacturers. We bought from a company based near manchester, you phone through the sizes and they manufactuer and deliver to you in around 3 days. We used a company called Unifit, who are definitely more trade, offline and E&M based and not really in the online world.0 -
What are your inside finishings going to be like? We have upvc windows but all the insides have hardwood picture frame finishings. Sometimes they leave your old windowsills in and just put plastic beading round it. Not such a good look imo.0
