I suggest you get at least 4 quotes. If you use some small local suppliers try to satisfy yourself that they will not be going broke a few months after your windows have been installed otherwise any guarantee they give will be useless. For that reason it may be worth going with a larger, better known company, although of course that is no guarantee of their financial stability. And don't be fooled by any salesman who offers you a "special discount" if you sign up on the day they turn up to offer you a quote. Most companies do this, and the discount is built into the quote they give so you won't be saving any money.

Avoid any company that employ Sales Staff, find a local small company, ask to see photo's of their recent work.

Actually to say that Everest is overpriced is a bit like saying that BMWs are overpriced. Everest are quality windows and others will be of variable quality. It's a bit like cars, you have BMWs, Fords and Skodas. If you want to pay Skoda prices then that is what you will get, if you want a BMW you will have to pay BMW prices.

The shame is is that the quality issues will not manifest themselves until you have had the windows a few years and after you have told everybody that your windows are great. At the very least, with Everest you get the best guarantee.

PS I don't work for them BTW.

    .

On that logic, find a Skoda type window installer, they are generally more reliable than a BMW.;)

    TBH Dr. Shoe is right

But most windows come with 10 year warranties and if you get a FENSA registered company you can't go too far wrong

plus, skoda are VolkswagenAudi Group now, so damn good cars IMHO ;o)

Thanks for all the advice, Had the guy from Everest around yesterday and I was quotes 5600 for 4 windows and secondary glazing on the bay front. Whatever the quality of the product that's a hefty hefty price, I will say, having seen another thread on rude salesmen and the like the guy was a gent.

Have a local fensa registered company coming this evening http://www.bjbevan.co.uk/. Looks like a small family business that get most of their jobs word of mouth so we'll see how that goes :)

local Fensa accredited firm quoted me 3450 to replace the front bay window and for 4 windows around the house that are a decent size, one 5ft by 3ft and 3 others roughly 4ft by 2.5 ft each. Would anyone in the know comment on whether this sounds like a decent quote for what i've mentioned above. Thanks

thanks for the reply, I'm in no rush so I think I'll spend the summer getting quotes. even 3450 seems an awful lot for the amount being done. There's got to be a big mark up there still
