Hi all,
DS and I returned home from our camping trip with no car last week!
We travelled to Newquay by coach with just our backpacks on the 8th. To begin with as we boarded the coach I did have a little self doubt having looked At the weather for forcast first, 3 days of rain and fast winds. But as the coach down there and a campsite booked we still went.
We arrived in heavy rain luckily at the bus station so just crossed over to catch the bus to site, which was packed, it wasnt easy getting on and off but we managed. Unfortunately we did have to put the tent up in the rain so we covered to backpacks with the tarp while we did that. I'm so pleased we had a couple of practice runs at home first!
It did stop once the tent was up which peed me off slightly but at least it stopped. It did rain slot and Monday night was the worst weather we have ever camped in! Heavy rain and very fast winds but in a way it was quite cozy. We were never cold at night and the only bit that I didnt really plan for was eating out quite a bit as the weather was so wet. Weatherspoons came in handy with there grill night on the Tuesday. We only stayed for four nights as I spent to much far to fast but DS did have a couple of surf lessons which made his holiday.
We already go camping but I'm pleased managed with just our backpacks it was a great experience and we are now planning a 2 week break travelling around Cornwall next August.
If anyone wants a list of what gear we took etc let me know and I will type it up
So in answer of my own question yes you can even in the worst weather and still have a ball!0 -
Apologies for mistakes I've typed this from my phone as my laptop has died!0

Hi Angie,
I am planning a similar trip as I too do not drive.
We live in Liverpool so maybe will be looking at different areas but I foud this site... It has a local bus that stops close by in the day and has an agreed rate with local taxi compnies too.
Search: Kneps Farm, CO UK (I cannot post links as I am a new member - Grrrr)
It seems to have GREAT review esp for families so I am going to give it a try in year...
I would love to know if you find anywhre great down south too...
Good Luck
Happy Camping! (LOL)
