Hi Nats!
Baby wipes, see the simple things i forget!
I think i may be slightly mad, its ment to be heavy rain on Friday so i bought a pair of wellies for £8 - it best flippin rain now :rotfl:0 -
Have you got something to carry water in, doesn't need to be massive but if you are trek away from the tap it's handy to have couple of litres in the tent. You can buy the strong but light plastic bag with tap type but as you are travelling in style a 2L cordial bottle would suffice for this trip.
We used to go camping on the bus whe we were children as we didn't have a car, we all carried a bit of the kit, 7 people one 1 ring camping gaz stove, one pan meals was the way to go LOL happy days I hope you have as much fun as we did....0 -

Will send you a PM a bit laters Nats, but not alots changed, the debt is slowly going down. And DS is good too, still not in full time school but hopefuly the LA will get there bum into gear soon!

An umbrella might be usefull!.I use plastic milk bottles for water.Free, and replaced every trip. Sandals/crocs/flip flops are usefull.Much easier on site when you are nipping in and out of the tent and good in the shower.I have seen panniers on freegle quite often, not sure if you are a user.If so it might be worth asking. When you are cycle touring decanting coffee, sugar, washing up liquid etc into smaller containers saves a lot of space. For anything that cannot be decanted, toothpaste etc.I take a near empty tube, but allways take a bit extra. My last three day trip became six days.Far to content to come home.
Have fun.0 -

Thanks Nats,
Ive stopped checking the weather now - it keeps changing, we are going prepared for the rain so im expecting it to be a wet weekend.
Its only an hour from London so if needs must and it is really miserable then at least i can call daddy and ask him to come and get us!
Just need to pick up the gas for the stove tomorrow and some marsmellows for the fire (as long as its dry).
Oh and need to get a extra lock for my bike. Think i may pop to the £1 shop tomorrow too, just in case there are any good goodies.0 -

We did indeed!
We arrive quite late on Friday around 8ish and everyone else had set up. Must admit i felt on Friday that i really wasnt going to enjoy it everyone seemed to have huge tents and seemed to 'mark' there ground so to speak. But having said that on Saturday we had breakie in the little onsite cafe and asked about how to get into town the site i chose was quite far out and the lane that leaded to and from the site just wasnt safe enough to take Joe out on his bike. Well the owner was lovely and said she would drop us off at the bus stop! So we went into Tunbridge Wells had a little wonder around the farmers market for fruit and bacon and made our way back to the site.
Saturday just flew by really, we had bike rides, walks to the ice caves and just relaxed really. It was lovley to have DS away from tv / laptop etc. We had a simple dinner and then went back to the cafe for a slice of there lovely cherry cola cake each (and i had a glass of pimms) before trying to start our fire - which to be honest made the whole trip! DS went and collected kindling - not easy as it had rained on Friday. But 15 firelighters :rotfl: later we got it going properly. DS wanted to stay up to see if our fire was the best and lasted the longest which i agreed to as he woke up at 6.30 on Saturday. Well he lasted until 11.30ish when he delcared to everyone our fire was the best and he was going to sleep! Which ment he slept in until 8 on Sunday - pure bliss!
So if anyones still reading, we had a lovely time, will be doing it again as we have all the gear now. We did have lovley weather, it didnt rain once and at night we were both warm enough at night. I think that if we ever get another tent it will have to be a 3 man though as i did roll over onto DS a couple of times. He wasnt amused when he had to wake me up because i was sleeping on his arm!
So yes we survived and we both ended up enjoying it!0 -

Glad the weather held and you managed to get out and about a bit. I bet that first night back in your own bed felt like heaven though!!! lol
