Asda/Vodafone internet problems.

Hello,

I have just bought a Vodafone 340 from Asda,, and put an Asda sim card in,after following the instructions from Asda for the new settings, everything works perfectly, except I couldn't access the internet, I was told to exchange the phone which I did, still no internet, told to try another Asda sim card, which I did, still no internet. The customer services helpline was baffled too. Please, has anyone else had this problem and solved it? Thanks in anticipation.

Have they checked that you're enabled for internet at their end ?

Each service is a item on your acc screen. You'd have hoped that, that would be the first thing they'd checked, but you never know !
  • It sounds like the internet settings on the handset are for Vodafone; you need to connect via Asda. You need to get the Asda Mobile settings and store them in your phone.

Nothing wrong with your handset or phone (I think).

I was e-mailed the settings which I followed and also was talked through by the help team, so they appear to be ok, will do what Jon 01 suggests and check I am enabled at their end.
    Many thanks.

Use the ASDA Mobile settings text service by texting ASDA to 44080. Texts are free. You will receive a text back from ASDA Mobile confirming your request has been received. When asked if you want to install the settings, click 'YES' and enter the PIN 1234 when asked to do so. This will install both MMS and Web browser settings onto your handset. Or call us on tel: 0845 303 2732 and we'll help you get your phone set up correctly. To activate your phone you need to either make an outbound call or send a text.

    Hello deanos,

Many thanks, I got the settings by text as you suggested, installed them and than made an outgoing call, but I still can't access the internet.

Seems odd then does your phone have restrictions that need turning off ?

Have a look in the settings, it should say in the instructions

All settings appear to be ok, there is nothing in the instructions, it is very basic.
The helpline thinks that it keeps going back to default settings for internet access, even after putting in the asda setting. They think it needs to be unlocked for internet access, although all other functions are working ok.
