Noise on Line with Broadband

Hi there! Just wondering if anyone can cast some light on the following:
I've suffered a lot with noise on the phone line. After a lot of !!!!!!ing about, I've managed to determine that the noise is only present when the modem is on. As the modem is wired directly into the NTE5 vie a NTE2000 I'm not sure where to go with this. I don't use filters on individual phones as the 2000 is meant to do this for me. I've had the problem for five years, but have only just worked-out the connection between the noise and BB. (I've had to wait for a 'handy' man to clamber around for me).
I've had the NTE5 swapped, but this has made no difference. Have also tried different modems. My set-up is 100% wired. The phone is crystal clear when plugged into the NTE5.
As ever, thanks in anticipation.

So why haven't you tried another filter?

no, you do need filters, go get some...

alternatively you could check your NTE2000 is wired correctly / work out if its just very poor at filtering by getting another one/two and trying those.....

personally I'd just get an ordinary filter that works

    I'd try

    1 Changing the filter
2 Plugging into the test socket
3 Talking to your BB supplier tech dept

(Not sure why this has taken months to get this far tho should be pretty straightforward)

EDIT and yes you DO need filters (on all phone sockets ideally)

Possibly the extensions aren't wired properly, and have been taken off the incoming connections if the NTE5 is the master socket, or the NTE5 isn't actually the master socket, and the BT line comes in elsewhere.

THANKS - appreciate all the replies!
According to the NTE2000 I shouldn't need filters on individual phones as BB is filtered at source. It's wired directly into the NTE200 However, will try with these again.
I've had all the phones physically (wires removed from master) disconnected from the NTE5 with only the ADSL running and the noise is still there. The only time it disappears is when I shut down the modem or if I run a phone from the test socket. Have done the usual BT silent line test.
Oh, and I have tried another NTE200 - sorry, forgot to mention.
The NTE5 is definitely the Master - can see where it runs directly into the house.
I've put up with the noise as I'm a bit restricted myself as a cancer patient and so find these things difficult. The speed of the BB is fine btw!
As for pantomimes, I kind of like them!
    Thanks to ALL again ....

You are clearly taking money under false pretences then.

An NTE2000 is a filtered faceplate and no additional filters are required.

There is a well known line fault condition called a high resisistance fault which causes precisely the symptoms described - it is caused by a bad joint somewhere in the line.

That said there is an outside chance that the NTE2000 is faulty so a quick check using a filter instead should be done before reporting the problem to the ISP (as it is an ADSL related fault). As can be seen already some front end ISP staff are not that well up on the sevice they are paid to support so you may need to get through to second level support after making clear that you have tried alternate filters.
