I thought I read that Tesco own brand makeup is 'designed' by Barbara Daly who is also responsible for Clinique makeup. My sister has used both and can't tell the different between the two brands except the price.
Lady Fuschia was correct about hormonal spots. I would up your intake of water to help clear you spots and check it out with your doctor.0 -
This is brilliant, I had forgotten about the wonders of aqueous cream. I buy it for my son who gets exzema, but lately the cold weather has been playing havoc with my skin, it feels so tight and sensitive. Used the aqueous cream after washing my face, it instantly soothed it, so thanks for the reminder :j

If you still wanted to but Clinique, why not try www.strawberrynet.com. You can get the 3-step system a lot cheaper. Would advise you buy one or two items at a time i.e. under £18 worth, as you would get charged tax on it, otherwise . You could also go via a site like www.pigsback.com and get points back as well. Delivery is free, and you get more discount each time you use strawberrynet.
Hope this helps.A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.:D0 -
If you have problem skin, stop using Clinique and start cleansing your face with olive oil or Lush Ultrabland for a shop-bought alternative. My skin has been combination/dry/oily/acnified for soooo long and I've used to many cleansers, but the oil method is the best I've ever tried. I know you think 'oil on oily skin? no way!' but it works because your skin overproduces oil as a result of cleansing with water.
It takes off all make-up, including waterproof mascara, and you'll probably find you won't need night cream either.
- Put a 10p size blob of olive oil in your palms, rub together, gently massage into face.
- Remove with large cotton wool pads/flannel soaked in hot (not scalding) water until they come clean.
It seems a faff at first but you soon get used to it. My skin has never looked healthier since I've been doing this! And I was VERY sceptical at first!0 -
If you use cotton wool pads then use both sides when removing makeup/nail varnish.
Use a brush to apply foundation if you use a liquid.
The new boots mousse type foundation lasts AGES I got some for my wedding in Sept and you need so very little it is a miracle. Since using it I have not needed concealer.
Use Body shop body butter for as much as poss - dry feet, hands, legs after shaving, and the shea butter one lasts longer whereas the fruity ones are more 'runny'- OH uses it for a very dry back. It even stops your feet getting blisters when you wear new shoes. For some reason having a 'multi tasking' product saves me money!
Avon 'professional' shampoos are as good as much more expensive stuff and I stock up on them when they are on special offer.
Primark hair brushes are the business for long hair and only £1 each.
sign up to https://www.cosmeticresearchonline.co.uk to get invited to test new product developments. I am currently using a body butter, face scrub, and 2 different face masks, all organic/fairly traded so quite luxury stuff, all for free
I also save by doing my own nails, shaving my legs rather than waxing, and not very regular trips to the hairdresser. I also shower 'away from home' at least 3 times a week at the gym or yoga, where I am also using their hairdryers instead of mineMember no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

I can second this. I used to love Clinique and always fell into the trap of trying to dry out my oily skin with astringents (3 version of 3 step) but have been using UltraBland for a couple of months and it is lovely....i go to bed with a face that feels soft rather than tight!
My nutritionist also advised a good quality (e.g. BioCare) zinc supplement (taken without food) which seems to be helping loads. She always tells me not to bother with 'cost-driven' supplements (H&B etc.) as they are a waste of money apparently. (Incidently, I don't buy the supps from her so no vested interest!).0 -

Yes, I second this recommendation. I've been using olive oil or coconut oil as a cleanser since the start of this year. I have oily skin, but it doesn't give me spots or anything.
I just use flannels that are 20p from Tesco to wipe off the oil.mossstar wrote:Do you have curly hair? curly haired models i knew NEVER used shampoo - they'd use the american 'curly girl' method, which basically means 'washing' your hair with conditioner only - the cheaper the better. Conditioner actually contains gentle cleansers in the same way that shampoo does (compare the ingredients list) and it takes a little experimentation to get it right, but my gosh those girls had FAB hair (and no frizzies).
Yes, I can recommend conditioner only washing too. I have straight hair btw. I use the cheap supermarket own brand conditioners.
Mossstar- I think I've seen your hair picture somewhere else.0 -

Just go into a good fabric shop or haberdashery and you can get some muslin cloth CHEAP!I have been known to use my daughter's 'clothies' which are the muslin squares from Boots in the baby department.

Biocare are very high quality and hypoallergenic. They have an excellent range of products. I used to order them from the U.K. when we lived in the U.S.0
