your thread has sort of inspired me - in particular your comments on the multiple pages your annual statements needs with all the little overpayments here and there.

so thank you (and everyone else) for your comments!

One moneysaving thing I am doing is parking away from town when I pop in - thus saving just over a £1 in parking charges which is going into a jar...another OP source there methinks!

See - that is the way you have got to look at it. I do the same if the window cleaner doesn't come for a week, i save a few quid at the supermarket, i spend less on petrol or whatever. In my budget i have a set amount for each bill and if it comes in under that then there is another overpayment. It soon adds up.

And just think how annoying it must be at the bank to read through all that on the computer. :D The only time i have found it a problem is when we went into branch to talk to the manager about the account and he was bemused by all my £1 and £2 payments. :eek:I felt a bit embarassed but what the heck. It's my account and i will do what i want with it. :D

Come on girl. You can do it. :j:j

Good luck with your quest! Remember that child benefit can be paid 'til 19 yrs in some cases, so the CSA (and possibly tax credits - not sure), would continue also. We're in a similar position, a couple of years time, these incomes stop. But on the bright side I'll be working more hours by then too (oh joy!). And of course the kids will be paying me a FAR TOO generous wad of their wages in board and lodgings every week.......yeah right!

I am going to have to ease up on my quest as I have just had a quote for repainting the soffits and fascias and some tile/roof edge repairs (I don't know what it's called but the mortar is crumbling and a few bits have dropped). The quote itself is OK BUT the scaffold will be £400

However I shall persist even if not as much. I thought I would divvy up 'spare' cash half to mortgage, half to the repair and replace fund!

I have written a complaint to the bank about a CC payment which went missing which then triggered interest charges (was an interest free card, have got it reinstated as such now) and default charges of just over £20 so if I do get that back I shall OP that.

I am hoping to pop into the BS this morning to check that the direct payment hit the account ok - (although it might be too soon) - if it did I shall be able to OP in my jammies any time of the day or night!

Didn't go into town. It was raining, nothing I needed that couldn't wait so I just popped up the road to post my letters.
So nothing to report other than a penny (roadkill) to add to THAT pot...last years roadkill went into my ISA - this years will be an OP!
