Sharp 42" LCD dead

Hi,
I have a faulty Sharp LCD tv which is dead, no picture just red and orange flashing light. I have had it less than 6 months. I called Sharp who said that an engineer will call to arrange visit. I asked over the phone and they guy said it will probably be a technical fault, maybe a board.
I am worried that if they repair it what is stopping it going faulty in the next 6 months? What are my rights with the retailer or Sharp?
Thanks

Your TV, like all electrical goods, is only the sum of its parts. If a part, such as a main board, fails and gets replaced there's no reason why it won't last for many years to come. Equally, if you got a new replacement there's no reason why that wouldn't break down either.0

Yeah I realise that, I have a 4 year old Samsung which has not had any faults so far so I was a bit surprised that this tv is already faulty0

You have a 4 year old premium brand and a 6 month old budget brand which may suggest part of the cause. The particular board may be a known problem so a replacement should fix it.
My car had 2 fairly major faults in the first year. The faulty parts were replaced and 4 years on I have had no more problems.0 -

Perhaps he meant the Samsung? Sharp are bigger than Sony in Japan.0

it may surprise many of you to find out that most brands use the same parts as others, and some units are exactly the same inside, but with a bigger pricetag:A R.I.P. Dave "Simmo" Stimpson.....:AA friend, A Gentleman, and a Damn good pool player. You will be missedone in prison, not long enough0

We know that but some people miss the "my dads bigger than your dad" game we used to play at school!
Back to the OP (who is probably banging their head against a wall at the moment) what would you like from the situation?
It is impossible to advise someone on the possibility of something going wrong in 6 months but understand your concern.
Would you rather get a full refund to enable you to buy another television by another manufacturer?0 -
There is only a tiny amount of manufacturers of these sets.
Its just a different facia that seperates them really.0
